The annual NARC club meeting and swap meet will be held on Sunday September 23rd, 2001 at the Pavek Museum of Broadcasting located at 3515 Raleigh Ave. in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. The swap meet will be held in the parking lot starting at approximately 10:00 am, followed by the meeting starting at 1:00 pm. The club will provide snacks and refreshments for all those in attendance.
Remember this event is FREE for all current and renewing members so be sure and bring some items to sell.
The current club membership is approximately 300 and holding while club finances have remained sound. Membership and interest in NARC have remained strong with good attendance at all club events. We anticipate 2002 to be another good year.
As in the past, this year's meeting will have a theme. The theme for the 2001 event will be Minnesota. This category includes any radio, radio related item or promotional item originally manufactured in Minnesota or used for the broadcast of a Minnesota event including promotion or advertising of a Minnesota based company. This could range from your favorite Setchell Carlson radio or advertisement to the microphone used by Casey Jones and Roundhouse Rodney.
We are anticipating some intriguing items to show up. So take the time to scour your basement for your favorite Minnesota collectible and take center stage at the Pavek to share some history with your fellow collectors.
NARC members will be receiving a newsletter prior to the meeting that includes a ballot for the election of club officers and a membership renewal form. Former Vice-president Ken Warren will be running for Interim-President accompanied by Allan Jesperson for Vice-President along with Greg and Mary Farmer running for club Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Club coordinators: Jim Thompson and Don Hauff have agreed to remain on board with assistance from retiring President Kip Wallace. Matt Hyman will remain the Newsletter Editor with able help from Newsletter Writer Ed Ripley and Mailing Assistant Jeff Hed.
As indicated in the newsletter, Ron Wines has resigned from his position as Hospitality Director so we are currently looking for a replacement. There are also provisions on the ballots to write in alternate candidates. Please take the time at the meeting to vote for the candidates of your choice and renew your membership which is currently $12.00 annually. If you are unable to attend the meeting, your ballot and renewal can be mailed.
Just a reminder that if you have an interest in becoming actively involved in the administrative end of club events we are currently seeking a new President and Hospitality Director. Any questions can be directed to Kip Wallace.
We'll see you at the meeting!!!!
