The Northland Antique Radio Club invites you to come to RADIO DAZE 2000 at the Comfort Inn of Plymouth - in Plymouth, Minnesota !
Since 1986, radio collectors from across the country have attended Radio Daze to buy, sell, and swap radios, to participate in the Radio Contest, to find some bargains at the radio auction, to try their luck at winning a completely restored vintage radio, and to attend the outstanding programming that RADIO DAZE is known for. Highlights of RADIO DAZE 2000 will include:
Enjoy coffee, pop, and snacks in the Hospitality Room. This is a good place to socialize and also to view some very entertaining radio-related videotapes (shown continuously). Again this year, the Pavek Museum of Broadcasting, along with the Antique Wireless Association (AWA) are co-sponsors of this meet. The Pavek Museum is located just a few miles from the meet, in nearby St. Louis Park. The museum contains a wonderful collection related to radios and radio broadcasting. - REGISTRATION - Registration is required for admittance to all indoor events, the Hospitality Room, the Pavek Museum, and to sell items in the parking lot. You can pre-register (and save $2.00) by returning the enclosed registration form before May 12th. After you arrive, get your name badge and other materials at the NARC registration table in the Registration Room.
Visit the Hospitality Room next to the Registration room for coffee, pop, and snacks, and to see some radio-related video tapes!
Don't miss the antique radio auction at the hotel on Friday at 7:30 pm ! Bidding numbers are $1. A nominal seller's fee of 5% ($1 minimum, $20 maximum) on each item entered will be charged. Items that don't get a bid of at least $25 will not be sold. No Buyer's Fee. To allow everyone the opportunity to consign items, we are requesting a limit of 10 lots per person consigned the day of the auction. If you have more than 10 items, please contact Don Hauff prior to May 12th.
Plan on joining us for a hot buffet lunch on Saturday. This is a very good lunch and the cost is only $8.00. |

- RADIO THEATRE GUILD - See a first-class live performance, complete with props and sound effects, of several old-time radio shows by the Rochester Radio Theatre Guild! They were a big hit at their 1993 & 1995 Radio Daze appearances and have been invited back by popular demand. BEST OF SHOW - Trophy awarded to the best overall contest entry as determined by the contest judges.
PEOPLE'S CHOICE - Trophy awarded to the entry receiving the most show attendee votes.
GENERAL AWARDS - First, second, and third place ribbons within each contest category will be awarded by the contest judges. More than one ribbon may be awarded if there is a tie.
CRYSTAL RECEIVERS - Any radio with a crystal detector.
PRE-1928 BATTERY RADIOS - Any 1928 or older battery operated radio receiver.
WOOD TABLE MODEL RADIOS - Any radio designed to be placed on a table and having a wood cabinet.
NON-WOOD TABLE MODEL RADIOS - Any radio designed to be placed on a table and having a cabinet made of anything except wood.
CHARACTER & NOVELTY RADIOS - Any radio designed to look like something other than a radio or having a character on it.
TRANSISTOR RADIOS - Any radio that uses a transistor in its circuit.
SPEAKERS - Any speaker.
RADIO ACCESSORIES - Any radio accessory, such as headphones, antennas, shortwave converters, remote control units, FM tuners, etc.
TELEVISIONS - Any television.
ADVERTISING - Any material that advertises radios, televisions, or related parts or accessories.
BOOKS & MAGAZINES - Any book or magazine about radios or related items.
MISCELLANEOUS - Any radio-related item not included in the other contest categories.
RESTORATION - Any radio-related item, judged for quality of electrical and/or cosmetic restoration.
The Pavek Museum, located at 3515 Raleigh Avenue in St. Louis Park Minnesota, is open Friday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The museum contains one of the world's largest collections of early radios, televisions, tubes, broadcast equipment, and other radio related artifacts. Be sure to stop in at the Pavek Museum's Annual Garage Sale, being held Friday and Saturday! Wear your Radio Daze name tag for free admission! |
This is the same hotel we've been at the past two years. Room rates are $69 for either a single or double room Thursday through Sunday nights. Register by May 5th to assure room availability.
