The Northland Antique Radio Club invites you to RADIO DAZE 2021 at the Comfort Inn Plymouth - in Plymouth, Minnesota, for our 34th year!
Radio Daze is THE destination for radio collectors from across the country who regularly come to buy, sell, and swap radios, to participate in the Radio Contest, to find some bargains at the radio auction, and to attend the outstanding programs that RADIO DAZE is known for. Highlights of RADIO DAZE 2021 will include:
The Pavek Museum and the Antique Wireless Association (AWA) are supporting sponsors of this meet. The museum is located just a few miles from the meet, in nearby St. Louis Park, and contains a wonderful collection related to electronic communication, including radios and broadcast equipment. Museum admission for those registered for RADIO DAZE is free Friday and Saturday, September 10th and 11th. |

Everyone is encouraged to support this, and future NARC events, by registering! Registration is required to sell items in the parking lot, and for admittance to the Hospitality Room, the Pavek Museum, and for all indoor events except the auction. Registration is not required to buy or sell at the auction, or to buy at the outdoor swap meet, but we do encourage everyone to register since your support is needed to continue holding these events in the future. All who register will be put on the NARC mailing list and may receive emails when we learn of other area auctions, sales, etc., that would be of interest to radio collectors. You can pre-register (and save $4.00) by returning the the pre-registration form before September 3rd to: NARC, PO Box 18362, Minneapolis, MN 55418. After you arrive, please pick up your name badge and other materials at the registration table in hotel's main ballroom. The meet kicks off with a large antique radio auction in the hotel main ballroom at 7:00 p.m. Friday! You do not need to be registered for Radio Daze to buy or sell at this auction. Consign up to 10 radio items you want to sell by bringing them to the auction between 2 - 6 p.m.
Visit the Hospitality Room for coffee, pop, and snacks! Some options for lunch this year are Lucky's 13 Pub within the hotel and other restaurants nearby, including Perkins, Arby's, Burger King, Wendy's, Davanni's Pizza, and other fast food establishments. |
of the NORWEGIAN EXPLORERS - Inspired by reading an Arthur Conan Doyle story, Edith Meiser wrote the Sherlock Holmes radio plays that were broadcast on NBC from 1930 to 1936. At the end of the first season, 94% of American radio editors said The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes was the best radio program on the air. The Red-Throated League of the Norwegian Explorers have performed these entertaining radio plays, complete with costumes, props and sound effects for more than two decades and NARC is excited to have them for our entertainment at Radio Daze 2021! |
Please bring your favorite old radio and enter it in one of the following categories in the radio contest! BEST OF SHOW - Trophy awarded to the best overall contest entry, as determined by the contest judges. PEOPLE'S CHOICE - Trophy awarded to the entry receiving the most show attendee votes. GENERAL AWARDS - First, second, and third place ribbons within each contest category will be awarded by the contest judges. More than one ribbon may be awarded if there is a tie. CRYSTAL RADIOS - Any radio, from any time period, that uses a crystal detector. PRE-1930 RADIOS - Any battery or AC powered radio made before 1930. 1930s AND NEWER TUBE RADIOS - Any battery or AC powered radio manufactured since 1930 that uses tubes and does not have a Bakelite or plastic cabinet. BAKELITE / PLASTIC TUBE RADIOS - Any tube radio in a cabinet made of any type of Bakelite or plastic. TRANSISTOR RADIOS - Any radio that uses a transistor in its circuit. HOME BREW RADIOS - Any homemade radio not factory assembled nor sold as a kit. KIT RADIOS - Any radio, assembled or unassembled, that was originally sold as a kit. RADIOS IN ORIGINAL BOXES - Any radio or radio-related item displayed with its original box or shipping carton. SPEAKERS - Any speaker made before 1930. TEST EQUIPMENT - Any device used for testing radio or television components or operation. RADIO ADVERTISING - Any item that advertises anything related to radio. OPEN - Any radio or radio-related item not included in the other contest categories.

Paid Radio Daze registration is required for free admission to the Pavek Museum on Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Located at 3517 Raleigh Avenue in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, the museum contains a comprehensive collection pertaining to the history and technology of electronic communication. This includes radios, televisions, telegraphs, telephones, computers, audio and broadcast equipment, as well as other radio-related artifacts. Be sure to see the newly expanded display area! |
Anyone experiencing a fever, cough, shortness of breath, or any other known symptom of COVID-19, is asked not to attend Radio Daze or visit the museum. Please bring your mask with you. Masks will be required to be worn at the Pavek Museum and during all events held in the hotel ballroom due to the close proximity of many people. This includes everyone attending the auction, contest, and program except those working the auction, public speakers, and those presenting the program, as they need to be heard. |
