The Northland Antique Radio Club invites you to RADIO DAZE 2023 at the Comfort Inn Plymouth - in Plymouth, Minnesota, for our 36th year!
Radio Daze is THE destination for radio collectors from across the country who regularly come to buy, sell, and swap radios, to participate in the Radio Contest, to find some bargains at the radio auction, and to attend the outstanding programs that RADIO DAZE is known for. Everyone is encouraged to support this, and future NARC events, by registering! Registration is required to sell in the parking lot, for admittance to the Hospitality Room, and to all indoor events except the auction. Registration is not required to buy or sell at the auction, or to buy at the outdoor swap meet, but we do encourage everyone to register since your support is needed to continue holding these events in the future. All who register will be put on the NARC mailing list and may receive emails when we learn of other area auctions, sales, etc., that would be of interest to radio collectors. You can pre-register (and save $4.00) by returning the the pre-registration form before May 12th to: NARC, PO Box 18362, Minneapolis, MN 55418. After you arrive, please pick up your name badge and other materials at the registration table in the hotel's main ballroom. The meet kicks off with a large antique radio auction in the hotel main ballroom at 7:00 p.m. Friday! You do not need to be registered for Radio Daze to buy or sell at this auction. Consign up to 10 radio items you want to sell by bringing them to the auction between 2 - 6 p.m.
Visit the Hospitality Room for coffee, rolls, cookies, snacks. soda and water! Some options for lunch this year are Lucky's 13 Pub within the hotel and other restaurants nearby, including Perkins, Arby's, Burger King, Wendy's, Davanni's Pizza, Chick-fil-A, and other fast food establishments. |
Vic Volare is the Twin Cities legendary crooner. His rat pack stylings have been thrilling crowds since 1996. Along with two members of his fabulous Volare Lounge Orchestra, Vic will entertain us with a variety of swing music and classic standards like we used to enjoy hearing on the radio. Please bring your favorite old radios and enter them in the following categories in the radio contest! CRYSTAL RADIOS - Any radio with a crystal detector. PRE-1930 RADIOS - Any radio made before 1930. 1930s AND NEWER TUBE RADIOS - Any radio manufactured since 1930 that uses tubes and does not have a Bakelite or plastic cabinet. BAKELITE / PLASTIC TUBE RADIOS - Any tube radio in a cabinet made of any type of Bakelite or plastic. TRANSISTOR RADIOS - Any radio with a transistor in its circuit. PRE-1980 TUBE HI-FI - Any type of hi-fi equipment manufactured before 1980 that uses vacuum tubes. HOME BREW & KIT RADIOS - Any homemade or kit radio not factory assembled. RADIOS IN ORIGINAL BOXES - Any radio or related item displayed with its original box or shipping carton. SPEAKERS - Any speaker made before 1935. BATTERIES - Any battery or collection of batteries as were used in radio equipment. RADIO ADVERTISING - Any item that advertises anything related to radio. OPEN - Any radio or radio-related item not included in the other contest categories.
BEST OF SHOW - Trophy awarded to the best overall contest entry, as determined by the contest judges. PEOPLE'S CHOICE - Trophy awarded to the entry receiving the most show attendee votes. GENERAL AWARDS - First, second, and third place ribbons within each contest category will be awarded by the contest judges. More than one ribbon may be awarded if there is a tie. |

- AREA ATTRACTIONS - The Pavek Museum contains a fantastic collection depicting the history and technology of electronic communication, including radios and other electronic items. There will be a charge for tickets this year. Please contact the museum to confirm their hours of operation and ticket cost. Other attractions within 30 minutes include the Mall of America, the Minnesota Zoo, Valley Fair Amusement Park, Mystic Lake Casino, the Walker Art Center, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and the downtown areas of both Minneapolis and St. Paul. |
